For the Video Activism training, you will need a Flip Camera and the accompanying software loaded onto a laptop.
1. Laptop Computer: A laptop with the FlipShare software installed is encouraged but not required. FlipShare is already loaded on each Flip Camera but needs to be installed on your computer. If you are not able to bring a laptop, please let us know at lamrg (at) commoncause.org.
2. Flip Camera. If you do not already have a Flip Camera, please consider the following options:
- For non-profits with 501(c)3 status: The Flip Video Spotlight program from Flip Camera offers special pricing and 2 for 1 deals ($150) for nonprofit organizations. Fill out the application for cameras here (takes only a few minutes). Please do this immediately or as soon as possible, even if you’re not sure if you’ll be in the next training! It can take 30 days for Flip to process your application.
- For community organizations without official non-profit status: Flip Cameras are available at many area retailers and can be specially priced on many of their websites, such as the following (links to Flip camera pages): TheFlip.com, amazon.com, Costco, B&H, Best Buy, Buy.com, Dell, HomeShopping Network (HSN.com), J&R, KMart, Micro Center, Newegg.com, OfficeMax, RadioShack, Sam’s Club, Sears, Staples, Target, and Walmart.
