Video via @FMmovie: Bain Capital, Clear Channel & the Downfall of Radio

The internet didn’t kill radio, commercial radio is killing itself.  Ever wonder why über-corporations like Clear Channel can take over local radio stations, fire your favorite DJ and ignore the local music movements?  How can they make money when fewer and fewer people listen?  Private Equity firms such as Bain Capital have destroyed radio and made handsome profits along the way.

UPDATED! Oct. 14: @LA_Indymedia Film Night with “Precious Knowledge”

In the spirit of furthering understanding and communication within and between our many communities LA Indymedia brings Film-Night back with the film “Precious Knowledge”.

     Oct 14, 2012 at 7:00pm

“Precious Knowledge” is an important documentary that exposes the blatant racism that the State Superintendent of Education in Arizona recently displayed in cutting out the successful ethnic-studies program at Tucson High School. The film follows the lives of four students and several teachers as they fight to save their classes and the program that became an educational lifeline for them.

I want to be a good story teller. I admire my boyfriend for his wit and humor. He is so funny. He can also be such a downer with all his war stories. I am a 33-year-old freelance writer from Winchester, CA. He is a 61-year-old retired Army major with 36 years in the service as a sniper. Some people call him an assassin, but what he did was for God and country. So, storytelling is very important in our family. I love to do it. I love to listen.
