StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
In partnership with KPCC the StoryCorps MobileBooth will stop in Los Angeles, CA from March 24 – April 23, 2011 as part of StoryCorps’ Griot Initiative, an effort to record the diverse experiences of African Americans in the United States. They are also allocating a limited number of interviews for the Every Voice project.
Bring your friend or loved one to the StoryCorps MobileBooth. Trained staff will explain the process, make you feel comfortable, and sit with you during your 40-minute session. At the end of your session, you’ll receive a free broadcast-quality CD to share with to family and friends, and a second copy will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
